If Hamburgers Were Porn: Feminism and Doing It Better

November 22, 2013November 23, 2013 / Cori Wong, Ph.D. / 2 Comments

A few weeks ago I met a stranger. We talked about pornography for a long while, and then I asked him, "Would you like to a make a video together?" Two days later, we did. It was great.  Since our conversation, I just can't get porn off of my mind. I mean, I even turned … Continue reading If Hamburgers Were Porn: Feminism and Doing It Better

How visual representations of feminist friendship have manifested within a year. #feministfriendship #newtools #CreativeBondsofFestiveResistance #ProcesstheProcess
This weekend was a big weekend. I ugly-cried my face off when @brockbikes gifted me a beautiful guitar to celebrate our relationship thus far, which inspired me to write him a song in return. Within 24 hours, we sang it as a second act to something else I’m still processing... * I welcomed about 30 of some of the coolest and full-hearted people I know, from all different corners of my life, into my home to explore and experiment for a few hours with creating community and connection. No one knew what they were showing up for, but they showed up for me and my wild ideas. And my vulnerability. I wasn’t even sure what was going to happen, which was part of the point and process, but there was a distinct moment in the night after some discussion when the volume of separate conversations went up, people mingled a little more, and it felt like maybe something had happened. And maybe some other things will happen in light of all that. * Thank you to everyone who brought themselves and their open minds, open hearts, snacks, and support to my home. Such things are literally not possible without community and support. I still don’t know for sure what we did, but I’m beyond grateful to be in relationship with so many great people who are willing try new things with me. * #newtools #feministfriendship #the8inchstage
14-hour drive for an overnight birthday celebration of one of the most beautiful people I know in a pretty beautiful place. Thanks to @taylorfreesolo for bringing us together under the full-ish moon and @thefeelingsparade for the acoustic moods.
Happy National Coming Out day! While this isn’t a photo of what happens every time I come out, I sure do wish for all those who feel a little scared, unsure, or overwhelmed (like I was to ride this bike through a crowd) to be surrounded by a sea of community, loved ones, friends, and strangers who celebrate, love, and support you in your being! 🌈
